Thank you for your interest in serving our community!
We look forward to your presentation that brings your unique background and perspective to bear on at least one of our Spiritual Principles. Please see "About Us" for a list of those Principles.
As a Learning Center, we expect that you will spend about 15 minutes presenting on your topic and about 15 minutes leading related group sharing. We pass the talking stick (just now it's a feather) so all have an uninterrupted chance to add their perspective.
Here is some important information for presenters at CSLNC: Information about the facilities and equipment, preparing for your presentation, and the order of events.
Facilitiesand Equipment:
We are grateful to have the use of the Gateway Masonic Lodge, although we are not affiliated with that organization or its tenets.
The Lodge is a single-story building with two large meeting rooms, one with windows and one without. There is a full kitchen, bathrooms, and garbage service; there is no phone in the building. CSLNC also has an office with a simple, low-volume copy machine, and a lending library.
We have sound equipment that will play CDs and tapes and amplify the event, if you need it. We have two standard mics and a lapel mic. CSLNC provides the personnel to manage this equipment. We also have a full-size electric piano.
We have song lyric books with over 100 songs in them that more or less fit our spiritual principles, most of which we have recorded music for, and a few are simply a capella. We ask that, if you wish to have attendees join in song, that you select songs from this book. To view the song list, click here.
Preparing for Your Presentation:
At least three weeks in advance: 1) Provide the topic of your presentation and a brief description of it (and you) so we can publish it in our local paper(s) and on this web site. 2) Let us know which songs from our songbook (if any) you'll want people to sing so we can have the recordings ready. For a list of songs, click here. We like to sing! If you'll be having musicians, let us know the set up they require. 3) Tell us if you'd like the room set up in other than "circle" chair format. 4) We typically have a local CSL member facilitate the presentation; they will be in touch with you prior to the event.
Day of: Arrive 45 minutes in advance to ensure smooth set up and sound check. Plan to stay 30 minutes afterward to give attendees a chance to connect with you.
You may bring CDs or publications for display and/or sale; we have a table set up just for that purpose.
Agenda for Sunday Gatherings:
CSLNC personnel will set up the space and ensure it's clean and ready, with hot water for tea, handle the sound equipment, and greet people at the door. Children's spiritual lessons are given in a separate room during the gathering, and they join the larger group for the Peace song at the end. Currently we are between teachers, so plan on children being "around."
